Fischertechnik American-English forum

Beitrag von vleeuwen » 18 Okt 2011, 12:56

Hi FT-community.
I notice that there is a new fischertechnik-forum.
For English-speaking ft-fans, there's now an American-English forum at http://fischertechnik.freeforums.org/index.php.
Maybe it is an idea to integrate the wish for a American-English(-Canadien) forum into this forum?

@Marspau

Peforming a Google search with "fischertechnik forum"

See the LinkedIn group:
fischertechnik technicians.
http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=1449 ... g_ugrp_ovr

On LinkedIn you also will find the group about
Integration of Fischertechnik interfaces in MS-Robotics Developer Studio
http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=3639 ... =hb_side_g

My personal preference is a more English oriented sub forum inside the international FT-community forum.
A special for the Computing and more technical subjects.

Best regards,
Carel

Thanks for mentioning the new English forum at http://fischertechnik.freeforums.org. Like Marspau, I searched everywhere for an existing English forum for Fischertechnik fans but I could not find anything other than the LinkedIn groups and a couple abandoned sites. Using translation like Google's doesn't work very well. According to Google translate, this forum is all about "fishing technique" or Fangtechnik (translating back to German). So I decided to create an English speaking forum - not as an alternative to the ft:community but to complement it and grow it in other parts of the world.

Although there are a lot of schools in the US that use Fischertechnik, it is relatively unknown compared to Legos and some of the robotics platforms like Parallax. There is really nothing like Fischertechnik on the market here. I would like to see Fischertechnik become more popular and well known here in North America. Having a LinkedIn site or a forum under the ft:community helps but it is not going to attract the casual web surfer that doesn't use LinkedIn or would immediately leave a non-English site.

I would encourage the english speakers here on ft:community to stop by and register on http://fischertechnik.freeforums.org to help us grow larger and provide us with feedback on on how to make the site better.

I am very happy with the ft:c forum and the mixer of languages.
The German users also doing their best with using other languages like English and French.
Why is the English speaking community so afraid to participate in an international forum with more languages?

I have a preference for the integration into one forum a not for a new dedicated English forum.
So will stay on this forum because it presents a lot of knowledge about fischertechnik.
