Robo TX Controller firmware update failure

Hello everyone!

I have recently updated my RoboPro to version 4.1.3. Looks good. But after playing around with new features I wanted to make a new program. But here comes the problem: I connected up my TX Controller and clicked the Test Interface button. RoboPro asked me to update TX firmware (Robo Library) to version 1.30.05 (old version was 1.30.01). I clicked OK, everything seemed normal. But after 15 minutes it was still stuck at "Uploading: Boot_fs.img". I tried several times and sometimes it didn't even write that... Red light on TX didn't flash and I think nothing was even going on :( (except wasting my time).

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I don't speak German so please English answers only.

Hi Grizeldi,

welcome to our forum!
It seems that something went wrong in the update-process and the firmware is broken now.
Hartmut Knecht wrote here: http://forum.ftcommunity.de/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2803 that there will be a program to fix the broken firmware. But ist does not exist yet.
I'm sorry, but I think you'll have to write an email to fischertechnik (info@fischertechnik.de). They will for shure exchange your TXT.

Regards,
Martin

Hi Martin.

I'm sad to hear that... But you wrote this:

I have a TX not TXT. Does that change anything?

Hi grizeldi,
aaaah, I misread that.
Thats a really important point^^
You can download the TX-Repair-Kit here: http://www.fischertechnik.de/home/downl ... uting.aspx ("ROBO TX Controller Firmware Reparatur Paket")
An instruction is included.

Martin

Hi Martin!

I have reinstalled RoboPro. No effect. Now I'm trying to set up that firmware reset tool, but I don't know how to install drivers from a specific location in Windows 7 (since it automatically searches Windows Update). If I leave it to install from Windows Update, it installs some driver called Lego Mindstorms Firmware Update or something like that. I'm pretty sure that's not what I need (or maybe?). With that driver installed, if I run repair.bat, I get some errors, so driver is wrong.

EDIT: This is what I get when I run repair.bat:

An clues how to fix that?

Hi,
From what Windows 7 you are trying to update the TX-C?
x86(32 bits) or x64 (64 bits)?

Did you uninstalled the drivers too?
See "Program and Futures" Fischertechnik ROBOPro xx bits USB drivers 4.0 and 3.2.

xxx\program files\ROBOPro\USB Driver Install
you will find the drivers for the TX-C.

The TX-C firmware you you will find in:
xxx\Program Files\ROBOPro\ROBO Interface Firmware\TXController_01_30

For manual replacing the firmaware on a TX-C with a Windows X64 sustem you will need
"3 - PC Robo TX Test für MS-Windows 7,8 und 8.1, 32 und 64 bit"

Be sure that all files are unblock after downloading.

So if I understand it correct firmware repair package doesn't wok on 64 bit windows (which my PC is) and I have to use TX test software. Also yes, my driver is still installed (I deinstalled it and then installed it back).
Do I understand it correctly?

I don't know if the repair kit is also working on x64.
The repair kit fix the lower level issues.

With Robo TX Test you would probably be able to (re) install the firmware files.
"3 - PC Robo TX Test für MS-Windows 7,8 und 8.1, 32 und 64 bit"

If the TX-C drivers are fine, you don't need to reinstall them.

Nevermind, I fixed the problem by uploading new firmware with TX Tests program.

Thanks for all help.

I am having a similar problem as grizeldi.

When I try and update the firmware (to 1.30) on a Robo Pro TX from the Robo Pro test button in the software it hangs just as in grizeldi's screen shot.

I am on windows 8 x64.

If I try and launch the Robo TX Test application I get a message that 'The library [FtMscLibEx] could not be initialised'

I am using the latest version of the Robo Pro software.

Any help would be appreciated. I am an English speaker - my German is no good!
