Robert

The same remark was already made some years ago: to have a decoder function on the TX-C too.
More names for the same principle: Rotary encoder, Quadrature Encoder, shaft encoder.

dann muss doch etwas kommen?......

Hallo

24V is the standard in the real process industry and control engineering world.
The PLCs (see for example http://w3.siemens.com/mcms/programmable ... fault.aspx)
are aimed on a 24V system.
Fischertechnik models are also in use at schools and industry for simulations and training purpose (POC=proof of concept).
The PLC system is a replacement for an interface like the TX-C or TXT.

An other example of professional replacements for the TX-C or TXT is offer by NI (National Instruments http://us.ni.com/academic/applications)
Some very nice professional real time interface cards for the PC.
However they are also very expensive.

Sensor data pre processing with a microcontroller and I2C connection with the TX-C or TXT.
However like the extended motor control black box (asynchronous) you will need to develop a similar black box for the Rotary based extended motor control.

@DoDi

Some microprocessors can directly process quadrature signals in hardware (like the one in the Robo Interface). I do think that most microprocessors are fast enough to process them in software however. This topic has been discussed here http://forum.ftcommunity.de/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2500. I think it is relatively easy to develop a quadrature-I2C interface based on an AVR but this will only allow you to determine the motor position, it will not help you with the advanced motor control like positioning and synchronization because RoboPro will use its own counters for that purpose. So if you need advanced motor control in combination with quadrature encoders you need to implement this yourself in RoboPro. This involves a control loop like e.g. a PID controller. Developing such a controller is not entirely trivial

I was not so happy with this web site with fischertechnik between adult and commercial stuff .
The adult stuff was not really suitable for the main target group: little children.
