Enables this also metric camera operations like the Kinect camera is offering?
Or simpler?
A camera is fun to have but the main objective is to give it a role in the control algorithm.

Hello Vleeuwen,
I work with the Open Cv/ Simple CV Libraries which offer lots of tools to find colours, blobs, give their x/y coordinates in the camera picture back.
This way you can use this data to set orientation of the robot or finetune the route your robot is taking on its journey.
I also bought an xtion Pro Live 3d depth cam from asus (like the Kinect), which I didn't use yet. There is an ARM SDk included, so it should run on a RPi, but didn't try yet.
This cam though should also add depth , or distance values.
I will give some examples of cam usage in the next ft pedia.
Hallo Vleeuwen,

Hi funmca,
Hoi is that data offer to the use?
Only in raw format or well processed if you compare it with the KInnect?
Like a data stream at a reasonable abstraction level simulary as the Kinnect Object model and API?
Does the device also have audio position measurement?
I understood that your camera device is directly coupled with the TX-C.
How let you deal the TX-C with the speed of the frame rate (5 to 30 frames/sec)?
When I am working with the Kinnect I need the proces power of the PC to deal with for example the skeleton data or the distance information of 5 upto 30 frames/sec.

Hello Vleeuwen,
I didn't try the XTION yet.
The Webcam is connected to a Raspberry Pi which does all the calculation, gives that to the Arduino, the Arduino is the only connection to the TX-C.
I need some time for a good documentation, so please be patient until the next ft-pedia.
Marco.

Thanks,
When I compare the Kinect setting (Kinect, PC, TX-C) with your setting:
The Arduino replace the PC as command and pre processor.
But is the Arduino making use of the TX-C camera bus or the TX-C I2C?
The use of the TX-C camera bus was the starting point for this discussion thread.
By the way:
I like your camera solution initiative.

Hi Marco,

Hello Vleeuwen,
the Raspberry Pi replaces the PC, they ARDUINO is not able to perform any OpenCV calculations.
