TX Controller koppeln

Beitrag von stupsi100 » 10 Mär 2012, 12:19

Hallo zusammen

Thomas

Warning:
Known issue:
When chaining the TX-C's, avoid connecting an EXT2 with an EXT2.
The TX-C is a normal I2C master and it is not possible to have two masters on one I2C bus.
The TX-C has a I2C Rom device attach to the I2C-bus which is in use during the start up.
So chaining two TX-C’s over EXT2 will give start up problems in certain situations.

?
Is MS not a partner of Multi-Master implementations?

@Defiant
Your remark is not clear to me.
What is the relation between I2C and MS?
I2C is original from Philips.
As I already mention, the TX-C is a normal master and not a multi master.
This problem is already discussed with Fischertechnik a while ago.

vleeuwen:

yikes, you're right. This may be a problem with the start-up, I also found this some time ago - the Boot-EEPROM is connected to the external I²C bus. Although I can't understand it. I never would do this...
However, then I have to correct my statement: Never connect EXT2 of two TX together.

@sbrunner
If I understood the hardware description of the TX-C well then it is equipted with a 24LC08B EEPROM or equivalent.
The 24LC08B is using TWI-bus. TWI is ATMEL name for the I2C bus protocol, see the AT91SAM9260 data sheet.
It could be that they have changed the configuration in a newer TX-C version .

When I made some measurements there was definitly some activity at startup on the EXT2 I2C bus.

@vleeuwen I think you are right. I could not read the numbers well, printed on the EEPROM. And when I googled the datasheet, I found some SPI versions as well.

What I focused on in my documentation was more on how the different ports work electrically in terms of what you can connect and how. I could not find any documentation about that besides the vague describtion in the fischertechnik docs.

I did not focus on how to install a different firmware which is also besides my expertise. I get the whole JTAG thing, but I would be scarred to brick it ;-) ASks' site is a good find. I hope he extends on it some day.

Thanks for the confirmation.

See for more I2C in the depth:
http://web.inter.nl.net/users/Ussel-Int ... c_i2C.html

The TX-C hase it source in the ATMEL Evaluation Kit for the AT91SAM9260.
In the accompanying manual and data sheet you will find a lot of detailed information too.
