A swing with Playmobil and Fischertechnik building blocks.

Beitrag von fotoopa » 27 Mai 2020, 16:02

It shouldn't always be complicated. This swing contains only a few parts. The swing with both children moves back and forth. They keep on swinging.
The little video gives you a better insight. You can see how simple it is and especially how it works. Don't forget that ball at the top. It's not there just to have a nice view. It has an important function in this swing.

For the real info there is a short video:

I still have a detail picture but I'm going to post it a little later. Most of you will know how it works and why the kids don't stop swinging.

Additional information about the energy transfer at the swing.

The energy for the swing is supplied by a rotating rotor with neodym magnets. There are also magnets on both undersides of the swing. The poles are opposite to the rotor so they push off. An XM motor drives the rotor with the magnets. There is no mechanical contact between the swing and the rotor.

The swing speed is adjusted by controlling the speed of the motor. The ball on top of the swing provides additional stabilization. The swing movement is started by pushing down one side by hand. Once the movement is started, the motor speed is adjusted for maximum swing motion. Then the swing can move endlessly until the motor is stopped. The magnets have a diameter of 5x5mm in the rebound blocks and 4 pieces of D5x10mm in the rotor.

Dear Frans,
wonderful! I like also the way to fix the Playmobil guys on their seats.
Which Nedym magnets do you use?
Thanks!
Cheers
Esther

Hallo Esther,
The neodym magnet into the 15x15x10mm blocks are D5x5mm, these into the rotor are D5x10mm. But the thickness is not critical. If you took them all the same thickness, it would go too. The rotor diameter has 25mm. Motor is XM-motor. You do have to adjust the motor speed for maximum movement.
