Electro-modules from 60x60mm boxes

Beitrag von Jeroen Regtien » 07 Jan 2022, 21:19

Dear ftc members,

I picked up on my 30 year neglected FT hobby, having recently retired. A few years ago I also started 3-D printing and my main interest is in applying this with FT electronics and (computer) control, whether it is silberlinge, the old (universal/intelligent/Robo) interfaces or the newer sets and including the non-FT arduino, R-PI and FTduino products. This forum has been a great help and I am very grateful for being able to access multiple decades of collective experience and wisdom.

One of the things I wanted to do is create electro-modules, using the 60x60mm boxes and turning them into standardised digital measurement units for voltage/current/temperature/counts as well as build thermostats, timers and (bi-stable) relays, simply because I like a modular approach and don't want to do everything with computer controllers. I found an initial panel design on Thingiverse and remixed this to generate a variety of panels for the different kind of modules. Photo's, STL files and SCAD files are now available:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5188458

Also an article has been published in the 2021-2 issue of the Dutch fischertechnik club magazine, which describes the approach and modules in more detail. Below a few photo's as illustration.

Best regards, Jeroen

PS: I can read and speak German pretty well but have opted to write in English as my German writing skills are below par... ;)

Liebe ftc-Mitglieder,

Really cool stuff. Are you planning any business with that being retired now?

Thanks for the feedback!

No, I just did this out of interest and have made the 3D print files (STL and SCAD), parts list and assembly instructions available through Thingiverse for others to replicate and/or expand. Once you have the 3D printed lids, the assembly is straightforward. I am willing to print lids for interested parties without a 3D printer at cost & shipping (send PM), but I will not purchase parts or do assembly.

BR, Jeroen

MfG, Jeroen
