Broken tires

Hi ft,
In 2006, I found that 1 of my ft23x8 tires was broken while being on the wheel of my riding robot. I know this year because the picture I made of the tire dates from 01-01-2007. For this tire, I got a new one. Today I found that another ft32x8 tire is broken while being on the wheel. My question is: how long are these tires supposed to last ?
Regards,
hvn

Do you have a ft part number maybe?
Nothing seems to have "23" in the name
http://ft-datenbank.de/search.php?keyword=reifen
Or did you mean something like this?
http://ft-datenbank.de/search.php?keyword=rad+23
But they are called V-Rad 23x

I couldn't find a real part number so unfortunately I don't have one. The only texts on the tire are "fischertechnik" and "ft23x8". How can I include that 2007 picture in here ?

Unfortunately this is not possible direct in the forum here...
Just reply to my email, I just sent you one

Could it be you mean this one:
34995 Gummireifen 32,5x8
This is made of black foam rubber (Moosgummi) which I have already observed to acquire cracks.

Yes, looking at D-Edition with that part number it looks like it. Since you have experienced the same, what is or could be the solution, preferrable from ft? Althought the part costs only € 0,60, I think this shouldn't be happening.

Hmm, as on the tire clearly is printed 23x8 and not 32x8 as in the ft parts DB...
I would assume the typo is in the DB

Coincidently I needed some of these tires too. I have 8, 1 turned out to be cracked while not even being on a wheel and very rarely, if at all, used.
I also think it is the 34995 which has an inner diameter of 23mm and an outer diameter of 32.5mm. I think ft normally mentions the outer diameter so the name in the datenbank could be the correct name.

Hello everybody,
can somebody confirm schnaggel's statement, so I can change it in the db?

The tire should indeed be the #34995. Untill now we had no problems with this part.
Of course the durability of the rubber can decrease if you store the tire in the bright sunlight.
Just send us the parts so we can check it....

Hi ft,
I never keep my parts in bright sunlight. Should I send the tire to Waldachtal? Addressed to who ?

Hi ft,
After some thinking it's a bit odd to send a broken tire of € 0,60 to Germany when shipping costs me more than the tire itself. While I understand that you may have/want to investigate the part, the last time (2007) ft just sent me a new tire. Please let me know how ft thinks about this.

Reading your first posting I think you want to help us eleminating a quality problem. If we want to do so
we have to check the part.

hi ft,
First, I like to replace a broken part that shouldn't break in the first place and of which I have now 2 broken + 1 replacement from 2007. With that in mind, I don't even know if it is the replacement part that is broken now or not. At the recent Dutch convention, someone even suggested it may be from a bad batch...
Second, your idea of me helping to investigate a quality problem is nice, but I don't see why that should cost me extra.
If I can send it without costs, it would help.

Hello hvn,
as i allready wrote, we never had a quality problem with the tires and received no other complaints about this part.
Regardless that the endurance of the tires should be much longer is the guarantee expired for many years.
We would like to clarify the issue of goodwill but if that does not fit for you....
