I wonder myself currently where the DSGVO stops.

Quotations and citations for example can not be illegal although you certainly disclose information about persons.

If somebody writes here in the forum "I have seen this model by Thomas Püttmann on the ft-Convention in 2012" is this already illegal without my permission?

My impression is that these things are not covered by DSGVO, since they are very remote from a database person -> properties.

@ftc-team: could we expect the ft-db to be the next site in focus ?
The ft-db team owns enough legal expertise to know how to reasonably handle such request.

Speaking for the website team: in the past, we have discussed requests concering privacy protection and intellectual property rights within the team and within the ftc e.V. board and handled accordingly. This has worked rather well until now. We will seek legal advice, if necessary.

No the problem stays the addresses are not allowed to be in any kind of way be published on the internet..
Hi Sweany :
Just a thought:
could it make a difference if you publish the single pages of the clubnews as images or as a machine readable pdf or text document ?
I remembered that a few years ago a publisher sold a cd with old chess magazines. This contained only pictures (jpg) and there was a manually created index of the topics. But you could not search the pictures for free text.
Could it be possible that the publisher did this intentionally in order to successfully avoid an issue with data protection laws ( as this magazines contained a "classifieds" section with full adresses)

This is just a thought of mine, because i remember that everyone asked themself why they did not scan the magazines with Text recognition software as it was state of the art at this time.

By the way: Could you perhaps tell me the paragraphs and the law the person is relying on ?

Ralf

Hi Ralf

No the problem stays the same, nobody can publish private info without the the permission of the person himself.
Even a email address can not be published any more.
It is not the problem that it can be found, it is not allowed any more.
The problem is every time there are new rules so we have to begin over again.
And these new rules are also for everything that was already published so you have to check everything.
We did publish almost everything before the new privacy laws but they affect also all done in the past.
In the basic this is ok, and if this law exist we have to hold each other to it no problem.
But in this case we can not do anything because op the © law and have to remove all if there is no solution.
And that is a pity.

Grts Marchel
