Advice for Shipping a Large Collection
I have a large Fischertechnik collection that I'm now considering selling. The problem is that the weight of the collection makes it pretty costly to ship it, especially overseas. When I got the collection from my father, it cost about $300 USD to ship within the USA. I'm concerned that most of the likely buyers are overseas (as Fischertechnic is relatively unknown here in the US, except in some educational institutions), and that the cost of shipping would turn-off any potential buyers. I do not want to sell the collection in pieces. I live in a rural area of the US (Southwest Minnesota) where VERY few people have ever heard of this system, so online sales are about the only way to go. Does anyone have any advice for how to handle shipping for a large collection?

Dont have amazon prime, so cant view the pictures. So cannot tell if the fischertechnik you have is worth shipping.
Best advise I would give is EBAY and sell in smaller amounts. Sometimes however EBAY can also offer very competitive shipping costs.

Hi korebreach,
just a vague idea: Are you far off from a major campus of the University of Minnesota?
At most American universities you have scientists from Germany or other European countries who stay there for a couple of years. When they return, some of them might ship their belongings in oversea containers. They usually have tons of free space left.
Or maybe you can find other people who live close by and want to relocate to Europe and can take your stuff along?

My American great Cousin moved twice from the US to oversea destinations. He always used professional relocators. Maybe you can ask some of these people?
Besides scientists another larger group of people who relocate to Germany are members of the US Army.

Re: Advice for Shipping a Large Collection
I should mention that PICTURE 1 + PICTURE 2 = PICTURE 3. PICTURE 3 is showing everything at once, after I categorized everything, but before I put most of it in the labeled storage drawers.

Re: Advice for Shipping a Large Collection
Your legacy collection is well sorted / organised. But the amount of blocks per type are( in mine opinion) still not worth shipping the whole lot to Europe.
So I would recommend finding a buyer within you country.
Good luck!
