I guess you're mixing up the kernel version and the community firmware version. I think you are looking for cat /etc/fw-ver.txt Which shows the community firmware version. I do not own a TXT Controller, but anyway. You approach ist totally correct, uname -a shows the kernel version (a complete OS may have extra infos). For the GUI check the HTML source (view source) in your browser. I would expect some script/adblocker supresses the output. What Browser did you use? ...
