Really great. DIdn't know about your project. In the meantime i've started a very similar project and even the ftDuino name is the same ... fascinating ... I would have chosen a different name had I known your project.
My controller is now also based on the ATmega32u4 and is using a modified leonardo bootloader. So we now have two ftDuino's ... the more fischertechnik compatible arduinos we have the better ...

I've started this pet project in 2013 for fun. The name selection process was very simple - fischertechnik + Arduino = ftDuino :-]

BTW: What motor driver did you use? Looks like an l298. Did you connect that directly to the ATmegas PWM outputs? I'd have liked to use them as well but the ATmega32u4 simply doesn't have enough PWM outputs for TXT style 8 independent output ports. So i ended up with the good old mc33879.

I've used cheap L293 as h-bridge driver for 2 motor outpots only. In this design you can't control individual outps. Only as group of two. You can find project files with schematics here - https://github.com/mr-kubikus/ftDuino
